Will I have to do anything?

Nope. Sit. Observe. Breath. Take it in. Participate as much — or as little — as you want. No one will single you out. No one will ask you to raise your hand. No one will put you on the spot. We promise. We just invited to be part of our community.

What happens with communion?

We share communion regularly. Sometimes it's during our worship time. Sometimes it's after the message. Communion happens about once a month. It's an open invitation — for anyone who believes in Jesus and wants to remember His beautiful gift of salvation. No membership. No checklist. Just come. And if you're unsure what to do, follow along. Or just let it pass. No one is watching.

Do I have to give money?

Not at all. The offering is for people who call Restoration home. If you're visiting, please — just come. Giving has nothing to do with whether you're welcome here.

I haven't been to church in years. Is that okay

More than okay. In fact, many at Restoration hadn't been to church in years before they started coming. Some of the most important conversations at Restoration happen with people who walked away from faith and are quietly finding their way back. No one will make you explain yourself. No one will ask how long you've been gone. They will be happy you are here. Just come.

Restoration is the first church that has truly opened my heart. I came out of desperation, dealing with constant anxiety and feeling broken after ending a relationship that was incredibly important to me. I felt desperate for an answer, for healing and I found Restoration and have come back every Sunday since. I have prayed like I never have before. I’ve felt connected to community like I never have before, and my heart has been opened in unimaginable ways.

Walking into a church you've never been to can feel a little like showing up to a party where everyone already knows each other.

So let's get ahead of it.

What Sundays are like

We meet at 133 E 34th Street, Holland, MI 49423.

Sundays begin at 9am with a community breakfast in the basement, where people in need of a meal and relationships show up to eat together. You are invited to join us.

Sundays continue with a time of connection at 10am. Grab a coffee. Say hello to someone you don’t know yet, or be prepared for someone to say hi to you.

Our worship gathering begins at 10:30ish, and runs about 75 minutes. We sing. We share honestly. We open up Scripture. And most of all, we follow the Spirit’s leading, which sounds scary if you haven’t experienced it. It isn’t. It’s peaceful. Unhurried. Not programed. Honest. Life giving.

And following the Spirit’s leading can look like singing a song we didn’t plan on, or someone sharing a verse or thought. Everything is done in order and with the purpose of building up the body.

After, people linger to pray together, encourage one another, or set up times to connect during the week.

One thing we’ve said since the beginning is, what happens before and after the worship gathering is just as important as what happens during the worship gathering. And we mean it.

What to Expect

When you arrive

People will be lingering in the parking lot. They will be excited that you are here. You will hear "welcome to Restoration." Some in our community may be smoking in the parking lot.

When you come in and climb the stairs someone will be there to welcome you. And it may not be a short conversation. They really want to talk with you.

If you have kids, they will show you where the nursery, which is for kids ages 0-3 years old. Older kids stay in our gathering for worship, but are dismissed halfway through our gathering.

One unique thing we do is pray together. This means people circling up and praying together. This is a special time, but don’t feel like you have to do this. You can pray by yourself, or grab another cup of coffee during this time.

Worship

We sing.
Not to impress,
but to align our hearts to Jesus.
Worship is how we remember what's true when everything else is telling us something different.
Some songs you'll know. Some will be new. Either way, it's an invitation — not an audition.

Prayer

We pray out loud, together.
We circle up, listen, and pray for each other.
Not as a formality, but as a practice. The kind that changes things, for the person praying and the person being prayed for. Sometimes it's the most powerful part of the whole service. Sometimes it's the quietest. Always, it's real.

We open the Bible and ask real questions, not safe questions, and as we do we are changed. We trust the Word has something to say. Every time.
